Hello,
We are really enjoying using SwirlChat on our new DNN based website. We were using a Java based chat client on our previous site, and SwirlChat does offer many new features not found on that client. However, there is one feature on the other client which we do miss.
Often times an operator wants to get notified when a new person enters the room. The idea is that the operator can greet the new person and then let him or her start to chat with other room participants. In our case, the oeprator does not necessarily leave the chat window open. Our operators need to also focus other tasks and may have the chat window minimized. The other client played a chime whenever a user entered the room. THat was the signal for our operators to restore the minimized room, great the new person, and so forth.
We have not found an equivalent feature in SwirlChat. Although we could get email if we were NOT in the room, there is a slight delay and the operators want to STAY in the room. THey just don't want to have to keep the window visible the entire time. So anything that would alert them to a new arrival would be great.
Speaking of chimes or other audible cues, most of our users were going crazy with the chime on new post feature. Without question, the first post made by new folks was "how do I make the noise stop". Could we either set the default to be NO chime, or give the room adins the power to set the default room by room (or site by site or hostwide). Is there any undocumented way for me to change our default settings so that new chatters start without the alert, but can still enable it if they do want a chime on each new post?
Thanks,
Randy
