Chat and Windows Authentication

Gidday

Using DNN v 4.3.5, and Chat v 1.8.1.
We've just installed Chat for our school intranet and use Windows Authentication for automatic logon to DotNET. Chat module is installed on the main Home Page, the first page that's seen when accessing DNN.

1: Chat works fine when automatic Windows Authentication is turned OFF, and you can enter a username for Chat.
2: Chat also works 'sort of' when logging on unathenticated, and then manually invoking a windows logon. [see below]
3: Chat doesn't work at all if using automatic windows logon. No username is shown. When attempting to send text, 'Unable to contact server, please try again in a few moments'

Further to point 2 above. After initiating a windows logon, the username in CHAT is of the form 'Domainname\Username'. After sending a chat message, the separator '\' disappears, and sometimes the first letter of the username as well?. The original user 'Domainname\Username leaves the chat, and is replaced by a new user 'DomainnameUsername'.

Realis this may be a new variable for you, but any advice or help appreciated.

Cheers!

Re: Chat and Windows Authentication

Interesting find.  We'll setup a test server with Windows Authentication to see what you are referring to.  Please, also open a ticket with our helpdesk by sending and email to:

support@swirlhost.com

This way we can track the progress of this problem.

Thank you.
