Error when viewing module

I have followed the installation guide and created a page for the module and placed the module on this page alone. When I browse to this tab I get a message box with Microsoft Internet Explorer in the Title and "SyntaxError Syntax error" as the message.

If I try to send a message in the chat module I get the same message box except the message is "ERR:SyntaxError Syntax error" followed by another message box with a "null" message.

The error description provided by explorer is strUserListGuid is null or not an object.

the dll is in the bin directory, the webconfig was updated and the installation of the module was successful.

Any ideas?

Are you by chance also using the "Open-ViewState" module from Xepient Solutions?  We have seen this error before when a DNN install is also using "Open-ViewState".  The reason is that the Open-ViewState module seems to interfere with the Ajax handler.

We are working on learning how to configure Open-ViewState to be more "friendly" with the Ajax handler.  If you will, please disable Open-ViewState, and tell me if that makes the chatroom work for you.

I am currently working with Xepient Solutions to determine if their module will be compatible with Ajax based modules (such as Swirlhost's Chatroom Module).  I am awaiting a reply from their engineer on the problem.  We are both researching and communicating with each other, and I will post information as I learn it in this forum thread.

I am not using that module. In fact this is my first module I have installed in the portal other than the ones that were initially loaded during the portal setup. Any other ideas?

We are currentlly investigating the DNN install parameters at GoDaddy.com.  As per our email conversations it appears that there are some "quirks" with the way the Virtual Directories are arranged and there may be some additional chatroom configuration needed to get the chat working on that setup.
