You do not have to remove the old version prior to installing version 2.0. Both chat programs will run side-by-side.
However, IF YOU DO DECIDE TO REMOVE THE OLD VERSION, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU PERFORM THE FOLLOWING FIRST!
- Login to your Site as "Host"
- Open a page where your chatroom (version 1.x) is installed.
- Select "Enable AJAX.NET" from the module dropdown menu
- This will open the screen where your license keys are shown, and you will notice the Enable/Disable buttons at the top.
- YOU MUST CLICK ON DISABLE AJAX.NET!!
Once you have completed those steps you may safely remove the "old" version (1.x) from the Module Definitions on your DNN site.
What do you do if you've already removed the "old" version and now you see an error on your main site?
You can fix the problem quite quickly by following these instructions:
- Locate your "Web.Config" file in the root of your DNN installation (you must have access to this file).
- Open the "Web.Config" file with your favorite text editor.
- Locate the line that reads: <add verb="POST,GET" path="DesktopModules/*.ashx" type="AjaxPro.AjaxHandlerFactory, AjaxPro" />
- Delete that line (it is located in the "httpHandlers" section).
- Re-Save your "Web.Config" file
- Browse to your site, and the error will be gone.
Now, you can install the new version.
